The [I 010/ kongoni], also called the Coke's hartebeest, is a species of antelope which grazes on tall or short grass with a preference for dry stalks rejected by other [G 22 / herbivores]. The average adult weighs 320 pounds and stands four feet tall at the shoulder. Its coat is sand colored with a large white patch on its rump. Its horns are lyre-shaped and ringed.
Kongonis congregate in loose herds of 10 to 100 animals and, while they are not true migrating animals, they do move between the long grass plains and the woodlands. The population of the kongoni in the ecosystem is about 15,000.
